Day 20

Day of moving.  Nerver our favorite but, it was really not so bad.  We probably hadn't climbed enough slopes and stairs yet, the elevator was out of order at the hotel.  Our rooms was on the third floors.  Oh well!  And to add to it, a record high temperature was recorded in York on that date: 34°C in the shade.

As we are here for 2 days only, we went for a short walk, despite the hot weather.  We walked the Shambles, York’s most famous medieval street, renowned for its timber-framed, overhanging buildings, and cobblestones.  There was such a crowd there ! We walked back along the city walls. It took us an hour, which was plenty in the sunshine. Despite the sunscreen, my nose is quite red.

We stopped for a cold beer before heading back to the hotel to rest before dinner.

Dinner tonight was quite simple.  We went in a casual and very local pub.  It was good but most of all the service was very friendly.

We came back early to climb the 55 steps to our room (for the 3th time today).
