Jour 19, 16 mai 2024

My last full day. Tomorrow I'm going home.  I am in the middle: happy to return to my peoples and sad to leave England.  That is my life!

Today I went for a cruise on the River Mersey. I was lucky because the weather was mostly cloudy, but no rain in sight. It was touching to hear “Ferry crossing the Mersey”, as we sailed down the river. It's a 50 minute tour. On this tour we took in beautiful views of Liverpool and Wirral. I also learned that The Beatles performed on The Royal Iris four times during the Cavern Club's famous Riverboat Shuffle cruises in 1961 and 1962.

After the cruise, I went to lunch at the Fab Four Café. My cappuccino was special. It may not be the best I've tasted, but it was certainly the most beautiful to look at.

After lunch I went to see an exhibition at the Open eye gallery. This was an exhibition of photos by photographer Casey Or. The project explores young people's fashion, identity and self-expression on Saturday afternoons on the high streets and public spaces of towns and cities across the UK.

Fascinating!

Leaving the area, I met those 4 lads.

It was time to go to the Cavern. This time I went down four floors to enjoy the singer who was performing. It's always an emotional moment for me. I missed Ginette, my Beatles fan friend with me forever. We will have to come back together.

If you want to feel the ambiance : at the cavern

I told you yesterday that my suitcase was broken. I have to come back so I went and bought another one. I didn't want to break the bank because I have so many suitcases at home. I bought a slightly smaller suitcase. Everything fits perfectly.

This evening I went to a bistro for dinner: Hanover Street Social. That was delicious. It was a cool atmosphere: loud but young.

My boarding pass is issued. I was upgraded again. I'm feeling lucky.

See you back at home !
